I love this character, and this cast feels like family, we were all hanging out last night. I’d definitely do a sequel, but obviously that’s not my decision. I want to keep making really good stuff that connects with people. I’m not sure what I’m doing next, looking at some scripts and trying to figure it out, but it’ll be great, I’m really excited for it. I’m so blessed that I get to do this job, I’d totally do it for free. I was definitely not cool as a teenager, so awkward! I think that’s why I’m an actor, I love becoming other people. I’m a total geek, that’s why I was so excited to do this.

It’s important to stick to the source material, you know they’ll call you out on it, but also make it ours, you know? It’s like an interpretation. I mean, they can get a little crazy, but it’s all good, they’re respectful, and we want to make something that they can be proud of. I saw one recently that it was like, dude, what happened? And we don’t want to disappoint the fans, it’s all about the fans, that’s who we do this for. Projects like this don’t come around all that often, it’s hard to make a real film like this one.īecause let’s be honest, some of these big budget movies are just so disappointing. Everyone was on the same page, and the cast and crew just put in crazy hours, working really hard, trying to make it authentic and real. This is a big blockbuster, technically, but it really felt like a small indie film, you know? Those are my favorite films, the character-driven ones. Because it’s all about character, we wanted the whole thing to be really organic and character-driven. I learned a lot just being on set, watching them prepare, get into character. But everyone’s really serious about their work, too, these are just phenomenal actors who take their work seriously. I wouldn’t say that there were any real pranks, you know, but we definitely had a good time, a lot of goofing off. It definitely was a tight knit cast and crew, it felt like a family. They really made me feel like a part of the team.

I mean, working with basically my favorite filmmaker of all time? So definitely, I was nervous going into it – how could you not be?! – but everyone was really great on set. Danish Dessert is a powder that comes in a box that you mix with water and heat on the stove top. So when my agent called, I was so excited. We met up for coffee and just discussed the story and the character, our takes on it, and afterward I was like, well, I totally blew that. Those guys are so talented, I’m just such a huge fan. My agent sent it over to me and I read it in one sitting and was like, yes, I need to do this, but there’s no way they’ll want me.
